Studio RED is proud to announce the promotion of Chris Castaneda, RA, NCARB, to Partner. Chris joined Studio RED in March 2013 and has steadily advanced within the firm through demonstrated leadership, technical expertise, and a deep commitment to design excellence and collaboration.
Chris’s latest recognition follows previous promotions to Senior Associate in March 2022 and Principal in March 2025. He is a registered Architect in the State of Texas and holds an NCARB certificate. His professional focus includes performing arts and education facilities, where complex technical requirements, long-term planning, and close coordination with clients and consultants are essential to project success.
Notable projects led by Chris at Studio RED include the multi-year, phased renovation of Jones Hall, a defining venue in Houston’s Theater District, where he executed extensive coordination and technical precision while maintaining the functionality and cultural significance of the facility. Chris also played a key role in the design and delivery of Lone Star College Visual and Performing Arts Center, a dynamic entry marker to the University Park campus distinguished by its cylindrical exterior massing. Earlier in his career at Studio RED, Chris contributed on the Midtown Arts & Theater Center Houston (MATCH), a project that helped shape his understanding of the construction process and the architect’s role in delivering successful arts venues. Additional work includes the renovation of Southwest Presbyterian Church in Bellaire, where thoughtful design and careful budget management allowed the project to exceed client expectations and come in under budget.

Outside of the office, Chris enjoys spending time with his family, participating in church life where he serves as an elder, and staying active through sports and board games with friends.
