Missouri City Campus
SIZE: 42,000 sf SERVICES: Full Architectural Services DATE COMPLETED: 2019
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Located in Richmond, Texas, the Missouri City satellite campus of River Pointe Church has been using Elkins High School as a temporary gathering location for several years. Continued growth and support of the church members allowed the church to secure a site and development plan for a new second campus.
The masterplan includes: worship hall and youth wings; baptismal pool and riverbed; outdoor fellowship plaza and lawn area; as well as a pad-site for future expansion of the youth ministries. The new- construction 42,000-sf building houses adult, youth, and children worship services for an estimated 1000-person congregation. The 760-person worship hall will be the primary attraction inside the entry lobby. From newborn to teenager, the Children and Youth ministries have been designed for “alike” age groups in order to engage the entire family.
The River Pointe Church Main Campus has seen great success with their weekend fellowship gatherings. In order to continue the community-building mission, there will be a concession area with landscaped green space for gathering on weekends. Festoon lighting will drape the main plaza and provide an ambiance to enjoy weekend gatherings all year-round.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Studio RED was selected to create a master plan for River Pointe Church’s new campus. Based on the church’s priorities for growth, a new student building was selected as the first phase of development. The team collaborated with church leadership to create a building that engages middle school and high school students and contains administrative support spaces. The building is the second largest programmed space on the church’s campus, allowing it to not only accommodate students but provide an overflow area for the larger worship center.
The building contains a separate worship space for both student groups, each of which have a unique aesthetic and arrangement. Surrounding the worship spaces are large lobby areas where students can engage one another in developing relationships or in recreation. The spaces also serve as the pre-function lobby area for the worship venues. Flexible spaces provides areas for casual mingling and link the building entrance to the worship spaces. Pocket spaces, or rooms within a room, were incorporated to provide a variety of seating options for students. The overall concept was to create a welcoming, inviting building that encourages students to congregate and worship comfortably.
Part of the mater plan included the design of a new 31,500-sf, two-story children’s building. The building houses 400 children ranging in age from birth to third grade.
West End Church
SIZE: 20,000 sf SERVICES: Full Architectural Services DATE COMPLETED: 2016
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
West End Baptist Church, now West End Church, has been a fixture in the Houston community for the past 109 years. Located at 802 Shepherd, just over a block away from Washington Avenue, the church sits on prime real estate. But, rather than selling, West End Baptist Church partnered with River Pointe Church to modernize the facilities, originally built in the 1930s and 1960s. Studio Red upgraded the worship center and educational center, while maintaining the integrity and charm of the buildings. Great care was taken to preserve design details from the original building. For example, the team opened up an existing stained glass window and exposed it to the inside of the sanctuary. Originally, the window was only visible from the exterior.
