A.D. Players Jeannette and L.M. George Theater Named HBJ Landmark Award Winner; Goode Co. Kitchen and Cantina Named Finalist
The A.D. Players Jeannette and L.M. George Theater was recently named a Houston Business Journal Landmark Award Winner in the Public Assembly category, while Goode Co. Kitchen and Cantina was a Finalist in the Restaurant category.
Studio RED partnered with Gabriel Architects to design the new 33,000-square-foot A.D. Players Jeannette and L.M. George Theater, located in the heart of Houston’s booming Galleria area. The George Theater includes an audience chamber with orchestra and balcony seating for 450 patrons, a grand lobby, a stage house with a 70-foot fly loft, theater control booth, catwalk system and follow spot, a dedicated scene shop, cast dressing rooms, administrative offices, a box office and support spaces. Located in one of Houston’s prime business areas, the new theater boasts over 700 retailers, restaurants and hotels within two square miles.
The new Goode Co. Kitchen and Cantina is located in the the existing Mason Jar building on the Katy Freeway near Memorial City. The restaurant features 100-year-old reclaimed wood tables, handcrafted Mexican pendant lights, leather chairs, exposed white brick walls and hand-selected pieces from the Goode family collection. As guests move into the main dining room, they are greeted by the unmistakable old-world aesthetic that pervades the restaurant’s interior. From the 100-year-old reclaimed wood tables to the vintage serapes on the wooden booths dotting the restaurant’s perimeter, the detailed interior elements are perfectly framed by exposed white brick walls. Just like The Woodlands location, two community tables – accommodating eight people each – will offer diners a view of the wood-fired grills and the exposed kitchen.
