Houston Farmers Market Undergoing Major Transformation with Help of Studio RED

Houston Farmers Market

Farmers’ markets are growing in popularity across the United States, and Houston is no exception. With an increase in demand for fresh produce, regionally prepared foods and the desire to support community-based businesses, it made sense to bring multiple local vendors together under the same roof. So the Houston Farmers Market was born, and Studio RED Architects, Houston’s premier architecture firm, was called upon to provide basic architectural design services so that the well-established Houston Farmers Market could be transformed into an area that would best serve consumers and vendors alike.

A Comfortable Shopping and Vending Experience

On August 6th, a groundbreaking ceremony was held for the soon-to-be redesigned Houston Farmers Market. Sitting on 17.67 acres of land, Studio RED Architects has put several small-to-large-scale projects in motion to increase the capacity of the area and comfort of vendors and customers.

Here are just a few of the plans we have for modernizing this iconic space:

  • Climate-controlled retail outlets
  • Open-air market zones
  • Canopied outdoor thoroughfares to connect shops and vending areas
  • A spacious outdoor plaza with accessible restrooms and plenty of seating
  • Ample parking with plans to include 500 on-site spots

The project is currently on track to be completed by early 2021.
