Studio RED Architects designs addition for First Baptist Church of The Woodlands

In August 2012, Studio RED Architects was selected by the First Baptist Church of The Woodlands’ Building Task Force Committee to design a complete renovation of the First Baptist Church The Woodlands | Studio RED Architectschurch’s existing sanctuary, educational buildings, and multi-purpose spaces. After over a year of planning, construction for the project will begin in November of 2013.

The church selected Studio RED for its expertise in church renovation and new design projects, especially the combination of both on one campus. After working closely with the church’s Building Task Force Committee for the past year, Studio RED founding partner Pete Ed Garrett completed a design that includes all of the church’s functionality needs and complements the existing architectural aesthetic.

Guided by the church’s need to increase ministry space for additional adult attendees, the renovation will convert existing unused areas into classroom spaces and double the seating capacity in the sanctuary. When the project is complete, the church will also have a new Great Hall, which will serve as a nucleus for social activities and connect the sanctuary, multi-purpose rooms, and the new 450 car parking structure. Featuring an oversized fireplace, soft seating, Texas limestone, and wood interiors, the Great Hall will hold large meetings, wedding receptions, and conference events.

Worship Facility Architecture | Studio RED Architects“We were chosen by First Baptist Church of The Woodlands for our expertise in church design and renovation,” said Studio RED partner Pete Ed Garrett. “This project has allowed Studio RED to develop a new architectural aesthetic that matches the church’s current style, while allowing the church to continue using the campus throughout the renovation process.”
