Studio RED Architects were honored with the Epic Award for Historic Preservation for the Alley Theatre Renovation project. Two Epic Awards were presented as part of the 2016 PaperCity Design Awards that were announced April 13, 2016, recognizing projects that stand alone in their scope, brilliant design, and services to Houston.
The $46.5 million project, restoring the 1968 Brutalist masterpiece of architect Ulrich Franzen while incorporating 21st-century technology creates a unique theater experience for both audiences and actors. Studio RED Architects Pete Ed Garrett, Jared Wood, Gwyndolyn Mowbray, and designer Kathy Seal were honored to be part of this project and appreciate being recognized by the PaperCity Design Awards and the 2016 judges.
The Alley Theatre Renovation project, along with judge’s comments will be published in the October Home + Art issue of PaperCity.
