The Junior League of Houston Volunteer Building project for the DePelchin Children’s Center was designed to balance aesthetics and practicality. The main function of the project’s design is to provide spaces where donated goods are received, sorted, and stored. The Studio RED team and the client worked together to create a structure with clean contemporary lines to complement the existing architecture of the buildings on campus. The building’s 23,000 square feet area is divided into warehouses, volunteer workroom, training areas, and ancillary spaces. The new building allows the center to quadruple its capacity to provide donated goods to families and children in need. The project broke ground in May of 2024 and opened in the Summer of 2025.
